This is the best Mexican restaurant in Utah, and everyone that has been here will tell you the same. 2nd time here and will definitely be coming back every year when I snowboard in Utah. My cousin put me on this place as he's been coming here for years, and it does not disappoint! Night time reservations get booked out a couple days in advance bug highly recommend that over the 45-90 min standby wait. Last year, I had the mole Coloradito, and it was a dream come true. Hard to find good mole in California, and the mole here is top tier. Great depths of flavor and the carnitas was cooked perfectly. Had me thinking about this place all year! This time around I had their surf and turf chimichanga special. This was super delicious with generous portions of prawns and steak. The red sauce on top was really tasty, I didn't need any extra salsa. The house made guac and sour cream were a nice touch as well. I split dessert with my friends, and I highly recommend the fried ice cream! It's essential an ice cream burrito and the tortilla totally works. Almost acts like a crepe! It often sells out so order it if you can! Staff is always super friendly and attentive which is a huge plus to the overall experience. Looking forward to my next visit!
I'd heard many great things about Red Iguana so knew I had to put it on our itinerary! Also on the way there, our Uber driver told us it was in Yelp's Top Restaurants at one point, which made me excited. There's someone outside that checks you in and lets you know if there's a wait. My group waited about 30 minutes, which was the only downfall, since you had to wait outside in the cold. I ordered the Flautas (chicken) and Strawberry Daiquiri. The portion size for their food is huge, and what a steal because it was only $15! The food was delicious, and probably one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to! The drink was also delicious; perfect mix of fruitiness and alcohol, and only $8! Definitely can't beat their prices! Highly recommend Red Iguana, and I'd definitely return if I'm back in the SLC area.
With so many great Yelp reviews, we had to try this Salt Lake Mexican food institution. It did not disappoint. Great flavors. We love enchiladas and carnitas and both are well done here. Glad we made the trip and would come again. Parking was easy since we came early. Casual. Good service. Please come and create your own experience.
I wish I got the Mole Coloradito this time, which I have decided is their best dish (aside from the Killer Nachos). This time I got the mango mole (3.5/5 stars for me) and although it had been delicious on the smaller sampler plate, it was too sweet for me when I had an entire entree with it (paar for the course in Utah, which is famous for overly sweet food and drinks).
Red Iguana!! Yes I found this place watching man versus food or triple D and it is absolutely a staple in Salt Lake City. A must eat five stars every time I go ambience is fun, service fast!! very festive. The wait is always long worth every minute of it. That tells you how good the place is once you arrive . parking is really easy Bottom line 100% of menu is diversified with great choices. I highly recommend the mole sauces on anything that you order one of my top five Mexican restaurants in the whole United States.
